Košice, the European Capital of Culture 2013, is headed out on tour to Bratislava accompanied by a non-traditional, multi-functional mobile podium on wheels - KULTOUR 2013. The Košice 2013 team will kick off the program in the capital on 13 December at 4:00 PM at Primaciálne námestie (Primate's Square). The tour going forward will include visits to the following city centres: Žilina, Banská Bystrica, Prešov and Košice. The organizers want to use this unconventional format and accompanying program to bring the project closer to all the residents of Slovakia.

The Palace of Wonders in Buda, part of the capital of Hungary, has become the next stone in the mosaic of the Creative Factory project. It will be placed in the City Exhibition Center in the Barracks/Culturpark grounds. This will be reconstructed as part of the Košice - European Capital of Culture 2013 project.

Two founding Coalition 2013+ members - U. S. Steel Košice, s. r. o. and Východoslovenská energetika, a. s. (Coalition 2013+ is the legal entities interest group) significantly support with their activities the Košice - European Capital of Culture 2013 project.

In cooperation with Futura, Prague, and the Triangle Arts Association, Brooklyn, the International Visegrad Fund is opening a call for applications for artist-in-residence scholarships in New York in 2012. The residencies are intended for visual artists who are citizens of the Visegrad Group countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland or Slovakia). Deadline 22 December 2011.

Michal Holy is in Chisinau since September 9, 2011, where he takes part in KIOSK artist in residency program. During this period he has established a relation with Chisinau urban space, crossing it on the bicycle and by feet, looking for common for his native city of Kosice features.

Košice 2013, n.o. within project Kosice  A.I.R. (artists in residence)  offers three-month residency in Kosice (Slovakia) (from May to December 2012) for artists from abroad. Deadline for applications: 31. December 2011.

Mayor of Košice Richard Raši and President of U. S. Steel Košice David J. Rintoul signed a Memorandum of Understanding on November 10, 2011. They agreed on realization of the Creative Factory project in one of the buildings in the Barracks/Culturpark grounds. An untraditional multifunctional stand on wheels - KULTOUR 2013 - will visit five Slovak cities and will introduce the project of the future European Capital of Culture (ECOC) via a unique presentation and programme.  From 13th to 16th December 2011, they will gradually visit four Slovak cities (Bratislava, Žilina, Banská Bystrica, Prešov).  Starting in Bratislava (13th december) and finishing its route in Košice (16th december), where the programme will culminate in an exhibition of ice sculptures.  For this occasion, the ECOC team is currently seeking two part time employees.

Meetings at the highest level between representatives of the cities of Košice and Marseille and between the European Capital of Culture teams from both cities are laying out the lines of cooperation between both cities awarded the title of European Capital of Culture for 2013. After meetings between Mayor Richard Raši and Deputy Mayor Renáta Lenártová with their colleagues in France, the Director of Košice 2013 Ján Sudzina and Art Director Vladimír Beskid met with the Marseille/Provence team at the end of last week.

The City of Košice is one of the seven founding Coalition 2013+ members. The new management of the non-profit organization Košice - European Capital of Culture 2013 has realized the fact that the city is made ​​up of 22 city wards, and it organized a meeting with the leaders of Košice city wards at the beginning of October. They were - according to their words - pleasantly surprised by the invitation to the negotiating table. Twelve leaders of Košice city wards finally accepted this invitation, who discussed with the Executive Director of Košice - ECOC 2013 Ján Sudzina, the Art Director Vladimir Beskid and the SPOT-s project manager for community development Blanka Berkyová.

The new non-profit organization Košice - ECOC 2013 management continued in opening up dialogue with the Košice community in early October. Executive Director Ján Sudzina and Art Director Vladimir Beskid met with cultural operators - with the representatives of stone cultural institutions and civic society organizations active in culture and the arts. Twelve representatives of Košice culture accepted an invitation and the Coalition 2013+ members also took part in this meeting. There were representatives from State Theatre Košice, State Philharmonic Orchestra Kosice, CREATV and City TV Foundation.

The second year of the White Night in Košice will be held on 1 October 2011 between 7 PM and 2 AM hosting many international significant contemporary artists.

The curator and art historian Vladimir Beskid, who was previously involved in the preparation of the project Košice Interface 2013 with which Košice won the title of European Capital of Culture 2013, has become the new art director of Košice - ECC 2013. The selection panel was made up of Ján Sudzina, Director of Košice 2013, Michal Hladký, co-author of the Interface 2013 and Renáta Lenártová, Deputy Mayor of Košice. The panel was most persuaded by Mr. Beskid’s particular vision of the project.

For the current management of the City of Košice and the new management of the ECOC 2013, the Coalition 2013 members are valued partners with whom we are keen to cooperate and communicate. Our aim is for you to play an active role from the start.

The Polish city of Wrocław was recommended 21. june for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2016 by an independent selection panel. It will host the title along with a Spanish city, to be selected next week.

Košice 2013 and the independent art center HALLE 14 offers three-month (october-december 2011) residence in Germany (Leipzig) for beginning artists aged 20-40 years who are open to collaboration with local artists. Applications should be sent to 19 july.

Moldovan artist Ghenadie Popescu worked on the project SHAPING THE NEW (April-May 2011) in Hungary. In his artistic work reflects the struggle against totalitarianism, oppression and social differences. Inspiration for a theme found in Hungary. The results will be part of an exhibition SHAPING THE NEW (June 27 to 29 in the Kasárne/ Kulturpark in Košice).

Portuguese Fundação Orquestra Estúdio (FOE) has just opened registrations for young musicians who are citizens of any of the twenty-seven countries of the European Union. The registration period ends on the 25th of June 2011. Fundação Orquestra Estúdio is a symphony orchestra composed by 83 musicians, which will constitute the axis of the whole classical music programming of the European Capital of Culture - Guimaraes 2012.
