INTERFACE GALACONCERT 2007 WITHSTOOD THE WIND AND THE COLD
Unconventional unison of Košice State Symphony Orchestra and artists, who have close ties to the metropolis of Eastern Slovakia led to a concert witnessed by 1 500 spectators. Galaconcert Interface 2007 was the grand event supporting the European Capital of Culture (ECC) title. The air was filled with familiar melodies in inventive adaptation of opera, operetta, musical, even modern music. One could also listen to a piano arrangement of a well-know folk song, Na košickej turni dva holubky šedza, performed by three piano players – musician Marián Čekovský, his sister Lubica Salamon - Čekovská and a composer of the night Peter Breiner. "It was a world premiere in an instrumental presentation of two pianos," proclaimed Mr. Čekovský.
Free hot tea helped to ease into a nice October evening mood on Hlavná ulica in Košice. Solo ballet dancers of the State Theater fortunately did not become deterred by an almost freezing weather. The two-hour galaconcert Interface 2007 concluded with fireworks.
