The Košice City Information Centre and the Košice ECOC 2013 project team arranged on the weekend of May 3-4, 2008 an unconventional tour of the city themed KOŠICE HEREAFTER. The tour drawing upon the idea of traditional Wanderings about Town is to take the visitors to the year 2013.

Right in the place where a new modern centre of culture is to spring up, the questions of the visitors will be answered by the members of the project team. “The presentation is set up in the barracks in Kukučínová Street. The visitors can see a film featuring the Austrian city of Graz which has already been ECOC. The film shows the changes to the city brought about by the nomination. Another display room presents some info panels showing visualisation of the investment plans to affect such facilities in the city which have not been in use yet,“ Alena Vachnová from the ECOC Košice 2013 project team discloses some of the ´barracks´ programme.

“This wandering will also suggest how the people in the past, for instance in the era of socialism, pictured out the future of their city, or how some accidents and coincidences affected the future of this city,” added Milan Kolcun, a guide to these unconventional wanderings. This innovative tour reveals what will change in the city in the months and years to come. “The rest stays unchanged. We start off outside the State Scientific Library at 10 a.m. on Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday,“ said Kolcun.
