What will Košice be like in 2013

  • A city that is attractive for living where residents are happy to live and tourists are happy to return.

  • A city with existing cultural infrastructure prepared for European format events and gatherings.

  • A city with an expanded centre including new areas for spending free time, safe and cultured parks and new squares as well as places for youth to meet.

  • A city that has been discovered by a number of Slovak and foreign tourists thanks to its attractiveness and who are happy to visit thanks to its unique atmosphere along with a wide range of potential ways to spend free time in the city - regular and interesting cultural activities and visits to historical sites in the city and those areas on the outskirts of the city that have been able to transform the weakness of post-Communist architecture to their advantage.

  • A city that shines as a positive example of development using culture on the map of Europe and from which other cities and regions learn. Košice for more than two decades since the Velvet Revolution has been overcoming the barriers posed by its post-Communist past and has been able to exploit them for its benefit. Anonymity and block-like structures in neighbourhoods are overcome by the work of local residents in local cultural centres, which are the source of innovative and creative ideas that inspire city representatives to drive development in the city.

  • A city that has become of the capital of innovation and creativity in all of Central Europe. A large number of artists and designers from various corners of Europe arrive thanks to the ideal conditions created in the local Creative Economy Centre.

  • A city that is a modern, dynamic and creative European metropolis.
