Castle

The programme aim of the Castle investment project is cohesion of its architectural base and historic context. Therefore, in Košice Castle, it will mainly be events for children and adults that will be organised, presenting the history of the Castle and the City. Various social events with historic themes such as period feasts in the open air, workshops and presentations of various organisations, schools, the city, gatherings on various themes related to history, art, culture, sport, ecology, etc, will be found attractive and appealing.
Selected projects under preparation:
1. A modern view of history - an exhibition of replicas of historic artefacts focusing upon Košice's military history, showing the production of medieval swords, and workshops focusing upon medieval theatre (July - August).
2. FotoFest Košice - an exhibition of photographs by Košice photographers (January - December).
3. Theatre Pentapolitana - a theatre festival presenting theatre ensembles, artists and craftsmen from the former Pentapolitana (Košice, Levoča, Prešov, Bardejov, Sabinov) (May - August).
4. "Vejk Ap (Wake Up)" - a competition for young authors of drama texts with authors' readings (April - June)
5. Metal Inspiration - an exhibition and international workshop with the aim of helping to stimulate activities in art and design, in the untraditional use of metallurgical materials produced in U.S. Steel Košice (May - August).
6. Festival of Central European Theatre - an international preview of professional theatre ensembles (September).
