Crafts Lane
We are striving to create an attractive place for tourists as well as locals, enliven ancient medieval crafts and art. The aim is to improve the historical, aesthetic and cultural-social value of Hrnčiarska Street as part of the historic centre of Košice. The project will be implemented in cooperation with the Košice Self-Governing Region within the Terra Incognita programme but connecting the area of Katova Bašta (Executioner's Bastion) with Hrnčiarska Street, reconstruction of casemates (exhibition of weapons and city defence systems, archaeological presentation of the original city reinforcements), creation of a guide routes, building a Craft Gallery, craft yard and a historic replica of a conquered tower.
Selected projects under preparation:
1. Night of museums and galleries - craft workshops will be open to visitors during the night and will offer an interesting accompanying programme (May).
2. Gourmet feast - a festival of good cuisine and specialities from around the world (June).
3. Summer school for young craftsmen - creative workshops of traditional Slovak crafts during the summer holiday (July - August).
4. Cassovia Folkfest - international presentation of folklore ensembles (June).
5. Masks and faces - workshops focusing upon painting, photography and photoplastics for young Roma artists, creating artworks with professional artists (January - December).
