More than 1300 tickets for JAMIROQUAI sold in five days
The Košice – European Capital of Culture 2013 non-profit organization has caught the taste of the Slovak audience. This is confirmed by the fact that according to concert producer Milos GESKER Petráš, the main star of the opening ceremony, British group Jamiroquai, has sold and taken bookings for more than 1 300 tickets.
The unforgettable evening full of funky energy and dance explosion will be brought by the group based around leader Jay Kay in Steel Arena on Sunday 20 January 2013 starting at 08.30 pm. This concert from this showman will be the culmination of a two-day opening ceremony (19 to 20 January 2013) for Košice – European Capital of Culture 2013. The first ever Jamiroquai concert in the largest city in the East will be brought by the production team from Košice’s BEST SERVICES s.r.o. agency, a partner of the Košice 2013 non-profit organization.
“Like other European capitals of culture in previous years, we wanted to bring a world-class band to Košice for the opening ceremony. We had to look at our possibilities and the offer from BEST SERVICES proved to be the best and most viable. It is impossible to suit everyone‘s taste, but we have tried to please the widest range of audience-members,” said the director of Košice 2013, Ján Sudzina. As he pointed out, only by partnering with the production company was Košice 2013 able to make the concert happen within its limited budget.
The partnership with the non-profit organization means subsidized ticket prices. The first 2013 standing tickets are to cost 25 euro. After they are sold out, the ticket price will increase to only 30 euros. Tickets for seats cost 35 euros. “Just for comparing the price of admission, the cheapest tickets for the Jamiroquai gig in Milan in 2011 were 2.5 times more,” explained the marketing director for Košice 2013 Peter Sokol. He said the publicized amount of subsidy provided by Košice 2013 falls short by far of the budget consisting of the performance fee, the cost of transportation, the general and technical requirements of the group, hiring the hall, the media campaigns and so on.
