Phenomenal Serb Petar Marić captivated the people of Košice

Connecting People – this is one of the most important missions of culture, which was done perfectly on Saturday evening by the young Serbian musician, accordion player Petar Marić. Whilst to date very few people had heard of him in Košice, since the ECOC 2013 Opening Ceremony weekend he has become an unforgettable figure, and not only for the people of Košice.

In the Intermezzo bar, the 22 year-old young man stood before the audience and briskly started to play his accordion. The first tones immediately brought people to the boil and likeable Petar ultimately captivated everybody. The bar was packed, people danced and women literally “swooned”. “We love him!” theyshouted. Peter proved that everything really can be played on the accordion. Starting with Kalinka, then Serbian folk songs, Italian ballads and modern hits. They were all played with unbelievable energy, excellent delivery and a smile. He played tirelessly for more than two hours and it wasn’t surprising that just about every visitor wanted a photograph taken with him. Dear Petar, we all thank you for a wonderful evening…

The phenomenal Petar Marić was born inBelgradein 1990 and currently ranks amongst the best world renowned young accordionists. He is the winner of many large international competitions. His love of the accordion, undoubted talent, musicality and the ability to connect the interpretation with almost theatrical nuances – the combination of all these gifts is a guarantee that his performance will be embedded in the memories of his audiences and will give them a memorable musical experience.
