The world renowned soprano, today already a megastar, Edita Grúberová, comes from Slovakia but her career took off abroad. She has performed on all the major world opera stages and cooperated with prominent opera directors and conductors. During her rich, artistic career, she released a number of records with foreign labels, whether as operatic performances or song recitals.
It is a great contribution to the European Capital of Culture that such a star will be in Košice in 2013. Donizetti‘s opera, Anne Boleyn, is one of the prominent bel canto operas which will return to the world‘s stage thanks to Edita Grúberová. This piece is based on historic events, mainly known by the Shakespeare play, Henry VIII – the marriage of King Henry and Anne Boleyn ended untraditionally: by the decapitation of an inconvenient wife. The tragic opera, Anne Boleyn, will therefore come to Košice and Slovakia for the first time in a concert performance by the Košice State Philharmonic, presenting Edita Grúberová and a quartet of foreign singers.
