Košice Children‘s Historic Railway is one of the most popular attractions in the city. Following years of decline, more than 30,000 Košice locals and visitors started to see the miniature railway not only as an industrial – historic site but also as a new cultural area of the city. Tens of events, mainly aimed at families with children, form a unique symbiosis of art, nature, history and adventure. Rides on a miniature train like one from a fairytale have therefore changed into a trip to the world of theatre, cinema, musical meetings, creative workshops and enthusiasm from volunteers for saving and restoring this unique technical site. Košice Children‘s Railway Civic Association have thoroughly and inventively fulfilled this aim of turning the miniature railway into a place for meeting locals and visitors to the city who came to relax and enjoy a creative and innovative programme. The Košice NEW CULTURE POINT has also become a reality in this corner of Košice. Events include: „THEATRE WEEKENDS ON THE PLATFORM“ (every Saturday in July) „SUMMER CINEMA ON THE PLATFORM“ (every Saturday evening in August) „NIGHT OF LIGHTS ON THE RAILWAY“ ( 5 October ) „MUSICAL IMPRESSIONS“ (July to September) etc.
