The Festival of Sacral Arts is a unique event in Slovakia. With its national and religious diversity, Košice is a city possessing tolerance and understanding. Košice has always been an open city also thanks to the Sacral Festival during the celebration of the Patron Saint of Košice – Saint Alžbeta (Elizabeth) Uhorská Durínska. Since 1990 the festival has been creating space for the development of understanding, tolerance and religious acceptance, also via the presentation of domestic or European sacral art in music, singing, creative arts and words. The festival programme includes, for example, concerts by choirs in St. Elizabeth‘s Cathedral and other churches, exhibitions in one of the local synagogues or galleries, thematic sacral presentations, celebratory masses as well as puppet theatre. The festival is a really uplifting experience which you can only see in Košice!
