The International Jazz Festival in Košice is the second oldest in Slovakia and it has so far brought rejuvenation and an improvement in the quality of cultural
production in this minority genre. The international nature of the festival guarantees dialogue between cultures and social and ethnic groups, and links various European cultural circles, facilitating international cooperation and the creation of long term partnerships. The festival will take place before the International Peace Marathon, which attracts more than the attention of just sports enthusiasts from many countries, and therefore the date of the festival will serve well for promoting Košice as the holder of the European Capital of Culture title and for presenting the region and the whole of Slovakia at European level. The festival includes three festival days within which three musical ensembles will perform each evening. On the second day of the festival, we will also move to public areas where, on Laca Novomeského Square, a stage will host jazz ensembles for the wide public from 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm. We will mainly provide space to young budding groups.
