Košice Folklore Days (KFD) are unique. They create space for members of  folklore ensembles, dancers, singers, folk music and young choreographers who can present their „mastery“ in competitions of dancing and singing skills – „The Štefan Mráz Prize“. The wide public may attend Schools of Dance for children and adults, musical-singing programmes as well as Gala Evening in Košice State Theatre. The event will also include educational concerts designed for schools and pre-schools within which children and students will have the opportunity to get to know various expressions of our national culture, mainly in dance, singing or playing unfamiliar musical instruments. The following  folklore ensembles will take part in the programmes: Borievka, Čarnica, Hornád, Jahodná, Omladina, Železiar, the Želiezko youth folklore ensemble, the children‘s folklore ensembles Čarnička, Hanička, Jahôdka, Jazierko Viganček, Železiarik, and invited guests from Slovakia and abroad.
