The Košice Wine Festival follows the old traditions of feasts, wine cultivation and production in the region. In two magical places, Košice – the gate to Tokay
– will invite prominent Slovak and foreign winemakers, wine lovers, sommeliers and culinary enthusiasts. For three days, the archaeological complex of the Lower Gate underground museum and the picturesque medieval street „Next to Miklus Prison“ will become places for tasting wine, young wine, cheeses and quality food, as well as places for performances and a memorable time. The festival has the subtitle „Where the modern rubs shoulders with the traditional“ and offers a traditional as well as modern programme. The traditional will be represented by the handover of wine livery, pressing grape must, damsels in folk costume, an Old Town craft market,
performances by folklore groups and gypsy music at Lower Gate. Modern wine drinking will be presented at organised wine tastings in a separate tasting room and presentations of sabrage or blind tasting. No wine lover or gourmet will leave disappointed, so just come. Do not miss the favourite wine event of the year.
