Antoine d´Agata is a renowned French photographer and a member of the Magnum Photos Group. His photographs are more about suggestion and evocation than about identifiable objects. Within the Odyssey project, Antoine d´Agata wishes to monitor five migrants from five destinations during their journey to Europe (Morocco, Canary Islands, Greece, Libya and Ukraine/ Slovakia in March 2013). Via photographs and a short video, he will give us a view of the everyday life of these people and will give each their own personal dimension of Odysseus. The photographs and videos will be made in different environments (e.g. in retention centres, local foreign communities or in suburbs – petrol stations, local hotels, pubs). The exhibition will be presented in Košice in the newly reconstructed Barracks/Culture Park cultural centre, within the „Journey to the Unknown“ festival of social art. The exhibition will consist of five large panels upon which texts from migrants will be placed, as well as many photographs and video screenings. The exhibition will be accompanied by a DVD and web site for the project. The project is organised as a co-production with Marseille – Provence 2013, on the theme of „city on
the border“.
