The Summer in the Park Festival is returning to the Kasárne/Kulturpark Cultural Centre 

Already the 5^th year of  The Summer in the Park Festival is returning to its original location, the recently renovated area of the Kasárne/Kulturpark Cultural Centre, from the 3^rd to 25^th August 2013.

The Kasárne/Kulturpark Cultural Centre, a former location of military barracks, is now a designated Green Zone within the city and supports the festival values of encouraging culture and the arts within this new and creative area.

Each day of The Summer in the Park Festival will offer something different and exciting: Literary Wednesdays, Film Thursdays, Music on Fridays and Saturdays, and Theatre on Sundays, in addition to extra weekend programmes for families with children.

A variety of national and international music bands will enrich the traditionally impressive festival´s music programme. The extravagant IAMX known for their highly energetic performances will entertain with an impressive theatre show along with their founder Chris Corner (formerly of the band Sneaker Pimps) from the United Kingdom.  MOVITS!, the well-known Sweden fusion group, will play a mixture of hip-hop and swing.

The legendary Czech band PRAŽSKÝ VÝBĚR (jazz-rock fusion) will arrive in Košice in their original formation with two drummers, Klaudius Kryšpín and Jíří Hrubeš. IVA BITTOVÁ, the most spectacular personality of the Czech alternative scene, will also play a concert with her band ČIKORI. Her irresistible charm, original use of voice, and fondness of melodies that sit on the border of avant-garde and playground nursery rhymes won her devoted fans around the world. The Czech hip-hop scene will be represented by the PSH band.

The national music scene will be proudly represented by VIDIEK, VEC, LOVE 4 MONEY, KORBEN DALLAS, HEX, PREßBURGER KLEZMER BAND, KARPATSKÉ CHRBÁTY, and many others.

The classical music group in residence at the Kasárne/Kulturpark Cultural Centre, QUASARS ENSEMBLE, will be joined at their performance by the violin virtuoso DALIBOR KARVAY.

The jam-packed music programme will be accompanied by theatre performances, literary ventures, art expositions, workshops and SPOTs project workshops. Film projections will be provided by the festival partner, the CINEFIL Civil Association.
