Place: Tatranská Polianka and other parts of the town of Vysoké Tatry (High Tatras)

In 2013 it will be exactly 50 years since poetry first visited the High Tatras, the place of tourism and spas. This happened thanks to a national literary competition for young authors called Wolker‘s Polianka, the finale of which has taken place annually in our mountains since 1963. A project called „50 Years of Poetry in the High Tatras“ will remind us of history in the form of a publication and a documentary film. On its 50th anniversary, the event wishes to develop cultural cooperation between the towns of Vysoké Tatry and Prostějov in the Czech Republic. The first swallow will be performances by artists from the birthplace of Jiří Wolker within a prepared programme. The final aim of the project is to promote the creative poetry works of young people to the wide public and therefore attract more consumers and creators to this beautiful artistic genre in the future.
