Several musical ensembles performed in Café Slávia today

On Saturday, well known Café Slávia was made accessible to visitors especially because of the ECOC 2013 Opening Ceremony. Many people came to listen to music performed by students and graduates of the Košice Conservatoire on Timonova Street. The beginning belonged to the COMBO KONZERVATÓRIA musical ensemble.

It mainly consists of pedagogues from the Košice Conservatoire and was established thanks to the initiative of the multi-talented musician and arranger of the colourful repertoire, Adrian Harvan. They induced a nostalgic atmosphere with their musical performance. Pavol visited the pleasant environment of Café Slávia after a long time. “I get very good feelings from this music and I like to enjoy coffee with acquaintances. It seemed like the best place to enjoy the afternoon today,” said Pavol.

Other performers were young musicians and multi-talented players from Big Band. “My wife and I expected Big Band to have more members. However, we know the boys and they play beautifully. We’re glad that something is happening in Café Slávia”, stated Igor.

Young ladies from the conservatoire played the saxophone with great possession. One was Juliana Gazdagová, accompanied on the piano by Mária Dravecká. Members of the Plachetka family were represented by the trio: Eduard Plachetka – violin, Adolf Plachetka – double bass and Vladimír Plachetka – synthesiser. In their free time, they devote themselves to this style of music which is suitable for interpretation in a café environment.

There was also space given to recitals presented by OKOT P´BITEK (Z pôvabnej žirafy sa opica nestane – An attractive giraffe will not become a monkey) and M. J. Lermantos (Démon). Another two performances were joined with music by LANGSTON HUGHES (Ode to Dinah) and Adam Zagajewski (Return).
