Two in One will host as many as 80 musicians

This Saturday Košice will commemorate the fourth anniversary of obtaining the prestige title of European Capital of Culture 2013 via the Two in One gala concert. Visitors can look forward to quality music – there will be as many as 80 musicians from Košice and Prague performing on the podium next to the Immaculata.

The joint concert will strengthen artistic cooperation between two European Capitals of Culture – the former, which was Prague in 2000, and the future, which will be Košice in 2013.

During a 2.5 hour concert, you can enjoy the “musical symbol” of Prague – the symphonic poem, Vltava, composed by Bedřich Smetana performed by the Košice State Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of head conductor, Zbyňek Müller. Well known concerts from Antonio Vivaldi and Johann Sebastian Bach will be presented by a renowned personality on the Czech-Slovak music scene – the flute wizard, Jiří Stivín. Since he is an excellent jazzman and improviser, the baroque concert will be presented in an untraditional way. The performance by Jiří Stivín will be a bridge to the jazz element of the concert, which will be one of the most awarded Czech singers – Dan Bárta and his group, Illustratosphere. Their concert will be made even more special by the assistance of the Košice State Philharmonic Orchestra and we can also look forward to a duet performed by Dan Bárta and Katka Koščová.   Katka will also perform her own pieces and her two songs expressing her intimate musical feelings will be accompanied by soloists from the Košice State Theatre Ballet. Two in One will culminate in a performance by the Czech funk-rock legend, J.A.R. (Jednotka Akademického Rapu or Jaromír and Radomír), which currently contains ten prominent Czech jazzmen and musical producers.

Actual events on the podium in front of the Immaculata will be broadcast online via the www.kosice2013.sk website, as well as via the MeToo portal (www.metoo.sk). The concert will take place this Saturday, 8th September, at 7.30pm on the podium next to the Immaculata.
