Residence stay duration: 1 or 2 months (September to November 2010)
Košice 2013, n.o. and RUHR.2010 based on their cooperation project for the year 2010 announce an open call for one artist from Košice and one from region RUHR to participate at the artists in residence programme.
One artist from Košice will have a chance to visit region RUHR to participate and work at the programmes under the European capital of culture programme of RUHR.2010 as project or productions assistant.
Year 2010:
Kuboshow (23./24.10.2010, Herne)
The KUBOSHOW is an annual event held at the Flottmann-Hallen in Herne and constitutes an art show for works by young artists. What’s special about it is the direct contact between the artists and the market, and not – as at other fairs – between gallery owners and purchasers.
Objectives:
- to strengthen cultural links between the Ruhr and Košice regions,
- to support artistic exchange between the Ruhr and Košice regions,
- to facilitate international collaboration projects
- to explore themes and topics linking Ruhr and Košice region
- to provide opportunities for development of talent, mobility and foreign experience,
- to provide opportunities for development of longer-term collaborations
Artistic sector of the pilot residence programme both outgoing and incoming is Visual Arts and New Media.
All applicants are required to send the following documents to be included in the selection process until the 10th of July 2010 to the email address maria.gurbalova@kosice2013.sk:
1. Personal CV in Slovak, English or German language (please indicate the level of your foreign language knowledge)
2. Personal identification card copy
3. Motivation letter max 1 A4 page with the topic: Why do I want to take part in the artists in residence program of the European capital of cultures project.
4. References (list of projects, exhibitions, residences…)
5. Portfolio (visual or video documentation of the previous and recent artistic work)
6. Please indicate from the following projects where and which activities would you like join in Ruhr.
- on the Creative Class RUHR in Dortmund, Bochum, Essen, Duisburg
- on the MediaArts Association in Dortmunder U, Dortmund
- on Filmfestival Projects in Bochum or Duisburg
- on the Art Fair on Zollverein
- on 100 Faces / 100 Lights project by media artists Mischa Kuball
7. Project description with the following headlines (max 3 A4 pages):

8. Undersigned declaration with the following text:
The artist ….(name)….agrees that the hosting (RUHR.2010) and sending (Košice 2013, n.o.) organisations can publish the artistic works being executed under this programme in all media and materials for the purpose of promotion, information of the general public or education. This right is not limited in time or space.
This right does however not include the commercial re-use or promotion of the artists works. For any commercial use of the artists works the artists needs to give his agreement separately on a case-to-case basis in advance.
Results of the selection process will be announced until the 31st of July 2010.
Conditions
The artist from Košice will be awarded by RUHR.2010
- Honorarium of 1000 EUR
- Travel costs up to 400 EUR
- Living flat in the Möllerstr. in Dortmund free of charge (value per month 500 EUR). This is subject to change concerning to circumstances. Any alternatives are of equivalent standard.
- Atelier space in the Gewerbehof, Rheinstr., 123 in Dortmund (value per month 250 EUR)
- Working material costs equivalent of 500 EUR
